Glee’s Lea Michele responds to rumors she can’t read

glee star Lea Michele has responded to long-running rumors which say the actress is illiterate.

“Hi,” she lip syncs, before someone says: “How is it?” This is followed by Michele again miming, pretending to say: “It’s amazing but wait, can you talk for a sec?”

At the bottom of the screen, a caption reads: “Calling Jonathan [Groff] to read me the comments on my first TikTok.”

The tongue-in-cheek video led to fans going wild, with several saying they were “screaming” with laughter.

One user thanked the star for her sense of humour, saying “this is what the people wanted”, while another viewer said Michele had “won the internet” for the day.

After posting her first video, which references her current stint in the Broadway show Funny Girlthe top comment read: “How did she read his TikTok”, showing that the bizarre conspiracy still rumbles on.

The rumors began in 2017 from an off-the-cuff remark on showbiz podcast One More Thing hosted by Robert Ackerman and Jaye Hunt, with fans constantly making light-hearted jokes at the actress’s expense since then.

Michele, who has previously called the rumors “bizarre”, starred in glee throughout its six-season run between 2009 and 2015. Other television credits include The Mayor and scream queenswhile her stage work includes Little Mermaid and The Rocky Horror Show.
